Evidence Based Approaches

About my Approach

My two primary treatment approaches are Exposure and Response Prevention (a.k.a. Exposure Therapy or ERP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which have been found to be the most effective forms of therapy to treat anxiety and OCD.  Based on you or your family’s individual needs, I combine these therapeutic techniques with aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other interventions as helpful.

Approaches for Individuals

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) helps you  break your cycle of anxiety and face your fears in gradual, manageable steps.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) focuses on breaking unhelpful patterns in your thinking and acting and finding more effective ways of being.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) incorporates mindfulness and acceptance, combined with committed action, to help you be more present and bring your life more in line with what you value.

Approaches for Parents

Supportive parenting for anxious childhood emotions (SPACE)

SPACE give parents the tools to help their anxious kiddo or teen build confidence and overcome their fears, without requiring your child’s participation.

SPACE-Failure to Launch (SPACE-FTL)

SPACE-FTL is an adaptation of the supportive parenting approach for anxious childhood emotions, tailored to address the issue of failure to launch in adult children.  It aims to improve your child’s overall functioning.
